Anestis Dougkas

Director of Nutritional Science Research

About

Anestis Dougkas, PhD/HDR, is a research director in nutritional sciences and an associate researcher at the CARMEN Laboratory (University of Lyon 1). Dr. Dougkas earned his doctorate in nutrition from the University of Reading (UK) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Food for Health Science Centre, Lund University, Sweden. He is accredited to supervise research (EDISS‑UCBL, 2023). Since September 2016, he has led the Nutrition and Eating Behavior Research Group at the Lyfe Institute Research Center in Lyon, France. His research focuses on the hedonic and homeostatic processes regulating appetite and energy intake, examining nutrient levels, eating habits, and sustainable diets. He is also interested in the role of sensory and nutritional profiles on food appreciation, food preferences, and alterations in cancer and bariatric surgery patients, taking into account interindividual differences. He is a member of the Nutrition Society, the American Society for Nutrition and the Association for the Study of Obesity, and a member of the European Nutrition Leadership Platform.
